JEHOVAH DA GAITA

The English philosopher Francis Bacon (1561-1626) wrote, in 1597, at Meditationes Sacrae: “knowledge itself is power”. This phrase can, in a certain way, present a little of the distinguished peculiarity of musician Jehovah da Gaita. Born in Recife, today Jehovah is one of the domestic references in the maintenance and repair of harmonicas.

Presently, the harmonica player is the only in the North and Northeast offering this kind of service. However, Jehovah does not distinguish himself only in relation to the repairs of harmonicas. With over 47 years of experience, the harmonica player started playing when he was only 14 years old, presenting on the radio and TV of Jornal do Commercio in the city where he was born.

Later on, he joined the brothers Emílio and Ênio Damasceno and formed the famous “Trio Harmônicos”. During all these years, always with a lot of jazz influence, Jehovah da Gaita has already shared the stage with important people among domestic and international artists, such as the American saxophonist David Richards, the American guitarist Joe Carter, the Puerto Rican pianist Edsel Gómez and also the Brazilians Luiz Gonzaga and Dominguinhos.

In addition to being an icon in repair, maintenance and history of harmonica in Brazil, Jehovah da Gaita still finds time to teach courses to those interested in learning the noble art of the harmonica. Altogether, the harmonica player has passed on a little of his experience to over 100 people.
