EDSON TADEU

With the Quarteto Pererê [Pererê Quartet] Edson Tadeu released the CD named Ebulição [Ebullition], which was a finalist in the TIM Music Festival prize in the category best instrumental album.

Born in São Paulo, he started his interest for harmonicas 14 years ago. Having a strong influence in the family, with relatives that performed in martial bands and an uncle with musical experience, the harmonica player felt a close inspiration to become a musician.

“I have many influences, such as my dad, who showed me the great classics of erudite music and sambas [Brazilian rhythms]. I also seek for inspiration in harmonica players I’ve met and others that I haven’t had the chance to meet, but who are extremely important for me”, reveals Edson, who is another representative of the chromatic harmonica from Bends Harmônicas. “The professors at the university showed me a lot as well”, he completes.

Composer, Edson Tadeu has a graduation degree in composition and regency with specialization in electro acoustic music by the Institute of Arts of the Universidade Estadual de São Paulo - UNESP [State University of São Paulo]. Professional for eight years, the harmonica player participated in festivals in the Netherlands, Italy and several others here in Brazil, highlight given to SESC Instrumental Paulista.

In 2007, at the XVII Contemporary Music Biennial in the city of Rio de Janeiro, Edson wrote, for the symphonic orchestra, the work A Elipse [The Ellipses], which was performed under the regency of conductor Roberto Duarte. Member of the Orquestra Paulista de Gaitas [São Paulo Harmonica Orchestra], Orquestra de Gaitas Souza Lima [Souza Lima Harmonica Orchestra], Quinteto Adjazzcências [Adjazzcências Quintet] and Duo Dedo ao Sopro [Duo Finger at Wind], Edson Tadeu also gets inspired by masters such as Larry Adler, Borrah Minevitch and, together with Quarteto Pererê [Pererê Quartet], he hopes to release a second CD soon, which already has a name: Balaio [Hamper].
