With over 15 years of career, Sérgio Duarte is distinguished by his multiple musical skills: he is a harmonica player, composer, producer, guitarist and singer. He became a professional in the 1980s, being one of the pioneers of the blues harmonica and one of the first professors of the genre. He taught harmonica players that are national references today, such as André Carlini and Leandro Ferrari.
He is the organizer of the annual event “Harmônica & Blues Projeto Brasil”, which brings together harmonica players from all over the country in a large national convention, with workshops and shows. Nowadays he is a member of the groups “Sérgio Duarte & Entidade Joe”, “Nasi e Os Irmãos do Blues” and “Sotaque Blues”.
The harmonica player also has in his curriculum the presence in important Brazilian festivals, including the achievement of the MPB Festival, promoted by Rede Globo, in 2000, and his participation in TV programs and works of distinguished artists and bands, like “Ira!” and the guitarist Faíska.
Sérgio Duarte also played with American blues musicians, like Peter Mad Cat, Sugar Blue, William Clarke, Buddy Guy, Carey Bell and James Cotton and Mark Hummel.
