RODRIGO EISINGER

Rodrigo Eisinger thought of being a physicist but, at the age of 19, he began his studies in music with the diatonic harmonica and, some years later, he met Prof. Sergio Freitas, who stimulated him to make profound studies on the chromatic harmonica and also to enter the Experimental Orchestra of UFSCar, under the regency of Prof. Ilza Zenker Joli.

Admitted in the orchestra in 2000, he began the formation of a category of chromatic harmonicas. Then he became a scholarship holder in the extension project of the Orchestra, where he worked as a coordinator of the scholarship holders, sound technician and recorder. The visibility of his work in the Orchestra allowed for participations in numberless musical groups and gave him greater contact with the repertoire of the popular music, thus promoting his process of change to the professional musical career.

At this time, Rodrigo concluded his graduation in Popular Music at the Instituto de Artes – UNICAMP, being the second harmonica player to enter the course in all of its history (the institution is the pioneer and one of the few in Brazil to admit harmonica players in its university course). Still at UNICAMP, he participated in the diatonic harmonica workshop with Howard Levy (USA) and Flávio Guimarães (Brazil). Eisinger also participates in the “3emtrio”, group that plays and researches Brazilian instrumental music. The trio is made up of Rodrigo Eisinger (harmonica), Felipe Lemos Guimarães (guitar) and Marcos De La Rocha (percussion).

In November 2005, Eisinger was at the “World Harmônica Festival 2005”, at Trossigen, Germany, as the only Brazilian representative in the competitions, coming fourth place in the chromatic Jazz category when interpreting “Bole Bole”, composition of Jacob do Bandolim, alongside the pianist and composer Hans Günther-Kols. At the same festival, he came ninth in the “Open Category”, with the solo arrangement for the music “Bebê”, of Hermeto Pascoal.

Rodrigo is experienced in the area of academic research because he successfully concluded his scientific initiation research, performed from August 2004 to July 2005, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jônatas Manzoli, (promoted by PIBIC/CNPq), where he studied the diatonic harmonica and its chromatization techniques.
